The Debate (#1)

I'll offer my full commentary tomorrow. However, I think that this ad sums it up: Barack Obama got taught a lesson on foreign policy tonight.

McCain definitely won this debate and any nonbiased media outlet will admit this. Interrupting and raising your hand every few minutes when you get slammed for not understanding foreign policy was not very presidential of Obama. Each time Obama muttered into the microphone things like "that is not what I said" while McCain was speaking, it reminded me of watching a middle school kid in a debate getting agitated when he knows a great point against his policies or experience is being made. As an African American female, I was disappointed in Obama's reactions and how he carried himself. He was very rehearsed and had lines memorized but was not genuine or presidential in his responses. A Harvard education will only get you so far, life experience carries you the rest of the way.

Obama got taught a lesson ... that he's more capable of leading our country than McCain.

I think one of the reasons you see CBS polling of independents tilt Obama's way...

(51% to 38% http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/27/debate.poll/index.html)

is exactly due to the approach McCain takes with these type of ads: People are getting tired of parsed commercials obviously taken out of context. And people are also getting tired of Presidential politics that seem to say you're not allowed to admit the other guy has a good idea, or is right about something.

John McCain made the mistake of returning to his stump speech a few too many times (and repeating some of the ad stumps of misleading facts that have been disproven against him)...McCain was a gritty Politician last night, fighting well and true for his political life.

But the other guy was the Presidential one.

I don't care if you erase this or not. But man up and listen: If anyone got taught a lesson it was John McCain. We are in Iraq because he and other people with bad judgment wanted to enter Iraq. Much of our money has been used in a war that should never have been. If you tried to act like you didn't understand that, Obama put in your face last night. Worse, and even more important, is the thousands of women and men who have lost their children, and children who have lost their parents to a war that was unnecessary. Completely unnecessary. Now it is time to get out. There will never be dignity recorded about this war in history. All it will say in the history books of the future is that we entered a country that didn't want or need us. So anyone who thinks that McCain should be president is a racist. How could we ever be sure that he wouldn't use bad judgment and take us into another war? He apparently doesn't know what he is doing. I think he would have us in a war with Iran in no time flat. If you want your family to die under a man who is reckless and who has this deep need to kill anything that speaks a different language, then vote for McCain. And may God have mercy on your soul!

After watching the candidate's debate last night, it became apparent that Obama would be better to play the President in a movie, but McCain is the man who can actually do the job. Obama is like a movie set. He looks good, but behind the facade, there's nothing there.

This last guy was attempting to make a point and then totally lost all credibility with the statement that anyone voting for McCain is racist. Are you serious? Its a shame that people like you are able to vote with that kind of ignorance. I'm voting for McCain because Obama is not qualified to be our President. The man couldn't even take a decise position over 100 times in the Senate, probably because he wasn't sure how his position would affect his political career. McCain is definitely the better presidential candidate. All of you Obama fans act like this is American Idol or something. This man has no clue people! Wake up!

@ Kevin Cassidy:

"Obama taught a lesson... that he is more capable of leading our country"?

I would suggest that if you can be taught that lesson, then you're not all that qualified to lead the country.

Bottom line: Obama looked like he hadn't met these world leaders, didn't fully understand these situations, and had extremely naive proposals to address these problems. That's called "getting schooled"...

Cool, calm and collected versus cranky, crusty and crumpled.

One looked, spoke and acted like a President.

One was a gritty politician fighting for his life.

I'll take the President guy, thank you very much.

There is an old saying. "The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same things and expecting a different result." The is what summarizes John McCain. The same old thing. Sorry John. You are a great American, but you are not the right leader for the complex times we live in.
