Gov. Palin at the Convention

I thought Rudy's speech was great. Turns out, he was just the warm-up act.

Our future vice-president, Gov. Palin of Alaska, was simply outstanding tonight.

Her speech was the perfect mix of policy, emotion and humor.  It's been called a "how dare you" speech and, truthfully, I think that title is appropriate. Certainly, she and her family have been unfairly attacked (and certainly underestimated) over the last few days. Gov. Palin's frustration is echoed by millions of Americans, who are surprised to learn that their small town values are held in contempt by liberal elitism.  How dare you call us bitter as we pray in our churches. How dare you suggest that we are not capable of living our lives without guidance from Washington DC. How dare you consider that the foremost evil is anything other than the extremists who would attack our way of life.

Here was what I considered the best line, comparing the record of John McCain to the rhetoric of Barack Obama...

"In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change."

If you had any doubts about McCain's VP pick, you need to watch this speech.

Check back for the video in an update.
