Great Post...

A debate is raging on New York Times' "The Caucus".

A reader left this comment regarding Sen. Obama's charge that he has been for change before Sen. McCain ever thought about it.  I think the sentiments are spot on:

"Obama’s right, McCain never used the word change until it became cool to do it. But, he did use that word in the Republican primaries. (In fact, McCain and Mitt Romney kinda battled each other to use that word).

The key, i think, is that McCain had been labeled as a 'maverick' long before any of this. (like, even before year 2000).

And, when Obama says McCain wants to 'change us from us' that’s exactly right. That’s what earned McCain the whole maverick status.

Lastly, one of Palin’s strongest quotes that resonated with a lot of people is 'some people use the word change to promote their careers. Other people, like John McCain, have used their careers to promote change.' And I don’t care how partisan you are, if you examine McCain’s record, you’ll see at least some maverick-like tendencies when bucking his own party and trying to change his party from within."
The reality is, Obama can claim what he wants. American's know the truth, that John McCain has been challenging his own party and the Washington establishment for years.

The bottom line: Obama has no such record.
