...people start debunking your claims.
One of the current controversies in the blogging world is the Sarah Palin interview. Key to this interview is her response to Charlie Gibson's vague question about the "Bush Doctrine" - she asked for clarification, stating: "In what respect, Charlie?"
Many liberal bloggers have jumped on Gov. Palin's response, suggesting that if she doesn't know what the "Bush Doctrine" is she must be unfit to be Vice-President.
However, Gov. Palin was very right to ask for clarification. Experts agree that there are at least four different versions of the "Bush Doctrine" (though, others think seven exist). Indeed, the first enunciation of "Bush Doctrine" had nothing to do with preemptive strikes, but rather with pulling out of international treaties unilaterally. There certainly was not one, unified expression of the Bush doctrine in Sept. 2002. To attack her confusion, when it was rightly placed, only shows the current desperation of Obama supporters to find anything, anything at all that will save their savior.
Outside of Charlie's gaffe, I thought that the interview showcased a confident Palin who certainly had knowledge of the world's current state of affairs (Georgia, Iran, etc.) and who could be depended upon to offer smart solutions to the tricky problems that foreign policy creates. Though I'm certainly not going to declare her a scholar of international relations, she has what you would expect from a reform minded Governor: an essential knowledge of the world around her. (Plus, she knows how to pronounce Ahmadinejad's name). On this ticket, given the extensive knowledge Sen. McCain possesses, that's all that should be required of her.
I would like to see an interview where a journalist challenges the executive experience of Joe Biden or Barack Obama. Though I suppose that would be too much to ask.
UPDATE: As I just discovered, the most impressive parts of Sen. Palin's interview were edited out. The FULL interview is posted by Mark Levin. Why would you edit these parts out? Color me suspicious.
